Hudson Mohawke Previewed His Forthcoming Album 'Lantern' For Benji B

Hudson Mohawke visited Benji B at BBC Radio 1 for a special glimpse at his forthcoming album 'Lantern.'

None

With his highly-anticipated sophomore album Lantern set to drop next month on Warp, Hudson Mohawke’s in pure promo mode. For some reason, HudMo has a thing for blessing BBC Radio 1’s Benji B with exclusives (remember what he did last November?), and last night he graced Benji’s show again with both a special Lantern preview AND an exclusive mix.

Before getting into the beats, Benji B and HudMo had a nice chat in which HudMo mentions how long he’s been working on the project; we probably could have gotten Lantern sooner, but in working with artists like Kanye West, the “Rap Monument” project, Rick Ross, and others (including material with Boys Noize?!), it just delayed how long it took to get this sorted out. He mentioned that the album doesn’t have any rap on it, and he made sure to include a good dose of instrumental tracks on the project.

All of that said, HudMo allowed Benji to really “let the music” speak, dropping previously-heard album tracks like “Ryderz” and “Very First Breath” as well as other album standouts like “Kettles” and “Indian Steps” (featuring Antony):

That couldn’t be enough, though; HudMo then got in the mix, not only throwing down heat from S-Type, Zebra Katz, and an unreleased gem from Redinho entitled “Mmmm Mmmm,” but he made sure to include a few non-album tunes of his own, “Sex” and “Chocolate Keytar.” Check out his exclusive mix below, as well as clips of his unreleased bits. And be sure to pre-order Lantern, which is set to be one of the most talked about albums of 2015.

Finally, the next track to be revealed from Lantern was “Scud Books,” which has been a track that HudMo fans have been waiting for. You can own “Scud Books” now if you pre-order Lantern. Check it out, in full:
