Pink, the pop singer best known for classic hits like “God Is A DJ” and “Get The Party Started,” is not harmful to preteens, as New Jersey family court judge Lawrence R. Jones said in his 37-page decision.

The case was prompted when an 11-year-old girl attended a Pink concert at Newark’s Prudential Center with her mother in 2013. Her father “sought to have Jones declare that the girl’s mother abused her parental discretion” by taking her to the concert according to NJ.com.

In his decision, Jones went through the entire history of rock, articulating how the genre was almost designed around upsetting adults. He also delved into the nuances of Pink’s lyrics, arguing that they “empowering.”

“[The mother’s] decision did not subject the child to any unreasonable risk of harm, or compromise [her]’s health, safety or welfare,” Jones wrote of the case. “To the contrary, when all the smoke from the custody litigation clears, it will be self-evident that all which happened here is that a young girl went to her first rock concert with her mother and had a really great time.”

Considering that Pink concerts are perhaps best suited to 11-year-olds, we’d have to agree with Jones (though her status as a “rock” musician is questionable at best…). Dad seems like kind of a square, to be perfectly honest—with all the money he spent on lawyers, he could have probably taken her to numerous Peter, Paul, and Mary concerts or something.
