Burial broke his silence today with a one-sided single from Keysound Recordings. The full “Temple Sleeper” is over six minutes long, but the secretive Burial was kind enough to share a few minutes on YouTube.
It’s a departure from 2013’s ethereal “Hiders” and the “Rival Dealer” EP. “Temple Sleeper” is dance meditation, a repeated melody driving through the center of the song. Burial’s creative use of percussion and ambient samples keep things devious throughout the snippet, which ends just as Burial starts to shift to the second act. You can buy the full single here.
