Bid on Original Artwork by St. Vincent, Earl Sweatshirt, BANKS, Killer Mike, & More

None

Last year, Australian radio station FBi convinced a whole bunch of our favorite artists to do some drawing. Each artist was given a white canvas and fabric markers to work with, and the profits helped FBi continue to function as an independent non-profit radio station.

The first auction’s success brought an equally impressive roster this time around. It went live last week and will run until December 2. St. Vincent’s “Magic 8-Ball of Death” had the highest bid as of this writing at $180.

Some of the artwork is truly impressive. Some is not. But it’s a rare look at how these sound-based artists approach a visual medium, and as such each image makes sense next to its creator’s music: BANKS’ swirling stare, DARKSIDE’s deadpan minimalism, and Killer Mike’s use of neon and sharp angles are all dead-on. In one way or another, these images are how these artists see themselves, a literal snapshot of their self-appraisal. Have a look in the gallery above.
