Wiley, The Godfather of Grime, is Back and Sounding as Good as Ever With "On A Level"

Wiley seems like a pretty unpredictable guy. Follow him on Twitter for a while and you’ll soon catch the full extent of his commitment to not holding back with his opinions, but musically as well it’s almost impossible to know what his next move will be. He’ll go from poppy dance-rap singles (get that money, Wiley) to a load of freestyles over beats from some of the best producers in the grime scene to announcing his new album is ready and dropping its lead single.

The album, scheduled for the release this year via Big Dada is called Snakes & Ladders, and “On A Level” is its lead single. Similar to Skepta and JME’sThat’s Not Me,” Wiley’s new song has a distinctly old school feel to the beat and energetic, exuberant delivery. The song, premiered last night by Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1, is accompanied by Skepta’s directorial debut which has a sort of camera phone or handycam feel.

Check out the video above, and be sure to take in Wiley’s sage advice:

Just live within your means, innit.
