Oceaán’s debut EP was a sparkling mix of R&B-influenced vocals, catchy hooks, and a definite dance music influence, but now the Manchester-based producer has taken things to another level. “Grip” is wonderfully unique, a little less immediately accessible than a track like “Need U,” but all the better for it.

“Grip” builds slowly, with snippets of vocals and sudden layers of sounding flowing forward then suddenly, unpredictably receding as the track ebbs and flows with a truly organic feel that belies its electronic basis. Great stuff from a young artist who is already showing off his range.
