Things are really picking up for iLoveMakonnen. Over the long weekend, “Tuesday” hit iTunes via OVO Sound (Drake’s label), and Makonnen took the stage at the Atlanta stop of the Drake vs. Lil Wayne tour. When Drake first remixed “Tuesday,” it seemed like a one-off remix, as Drake has done so many times before, but the fact that “Tuesday” was officially released via OVO Sound had a lot of people wondering whether this connection was deeper.
Today, we get confirmation that Makonnen has indeed signed with OVO Sound. He sat down with Hot 97’s Miss Info to give an in-depth interview about what life his been like since he got that Drake co-sign, the music scene in Atlanta, and why Gucci Mane is so important. After the interview, Makonnen confirmed that he was finalizing the deal with Drake’s team.
