Just last month we introduced you to the French-Cuban twin sister duo Ibeyi. Now they’ve returned with a new song titled “Mama Says.”
The sisters sing over an instrumental led solely by a piano and some assisting finger snaps. The seemingly simplistic production of the track is fitting for their effortless sounding vocals. The lyrics of “Mama Says” are strong on their own but the piano helps to heighten the emotion and make each word feel a bit heavier in meaning. The girls of Ibeyi know how to captivate you without putting too many extra elements into the equation, and their latest single is another example of just that.
