The onslaught of new Young Thug music has been incessant, but it’s obvious that a majority of the Thug music being released is old. Hearing Thug’s progression (on more polished songs like “About The Money” and “Hookah”) has been a promising sign of things to come, and based off the snippets released via Birdman’s Instagram, this new mixtape is going to feature Thug at his best. It’s also going to feature Rich Homie Quan and Birdman, and some amazing production by London On Da Track.
Judging a mixtape based off a few snippets is crazy, but I’m already expecting this to be one of the best tapes of the year.
After the mixtape, the trio will be heading on tour. Birdman explains:
“I became friends with Thug first, and he introduced me to Quan. I saw talent in them, and I wanted to see them reach the next level. I saw that they weren’t just rappers they are artists with the potential to be musicians—like Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj. I recognized that type of spirit in them from day one. I saw something I’d seen 20 years ago when I first started this. While we recorded ‘Lifestyle,’ I made a plan. I knew that it’d catch everybody off guard for me to feature these two young men who are rising in the game on the first single from the new Rich Gang album and do a tour.”
