Key! and iLoveMakonnen have churned out countless bangers (both individually and collaboratively) this summer, but with “I Understand,” the two ATLiens rejoin forces and mix things up a bit.
The FKi-produced jam is a slowed-down, emotive cut showing off the respective soft sides of the pair of hitmakers. Makonnen painfully reflects on a relationship gone sour in the hook—”If you don’t wanna be what we once were, I understand”—and Key! finishes the thought by relating to the scenario, but showing a bit less restraint—”I’m about to turn this car around, I’m about to turn this car around.”
