Daniel Wilson doesn’t appear to be content with merely moving forward with his sound; “Killed Ya” seemingly reveals he’d rather take a sidestep, in an attempt to keep listeners on their toes. It certainly works, as it’s hard to say this direction was to be expected following the airy minimalism of his Young Rubbish EP. As our first preview of his next EP, the driving “Killed Ya” ditches the techniques he’s employed before, but retains his songwriting chops and soulful vocals. With Wilson evolving so fast and unpredictably, “Killed Ya” leaves us eagerly awaiting what’s next from him.
