English bands, especially those from cities that are grey and rainy like Birmingham or Manchester, seem to love to make music with a tropical influence (maybe it’s escapism, maybe something else), and Newcastle-based Polarsets are no different. Influenced by a 2010 trip to sunny Ibiza, they make effervescent indie-pop with driving percussion and lively synths, and “Madrid” sparkles and shines like the sun off the sea on a hot Mediterranean afternoon.
