For his third single “Worry,” British R&B singer Jack Garratt ups the stakes of his small, controlled catalog, employing a rhythm reminiscent of Voodoo-era D’Angelo production and a burst of a fuzzy, funky chorus to create four minutes of tastefully updated nostalgia. It’s a natural, energetic outgrowth of the sound he’s been building—restrained without ever losing its healthy pulse, wisely building around its excellent hook. Another promising building block in Garratt’s roll out. Listen to “Worry” below.
Below, listen to Jack’s previous single “Water” for a slightly more downtempo but equally impressive (and dramatically spiritual) side of the Garratt.
