A lot of great movies have a single, memorable scene that defines them, one scene that immediately springs to mind when the movie's name is mentioned. For us, at least, a lot of those memorable scenes involve dancing of some sort, whether it's Tom Cruise's uninhibited moves in Risky Business (see below), Scarface's Tony Montana totally failing to woo the opposite sex on the dancefloor, or Ferris Bueller commandeering a float to sing "Twist and Shout" in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
Read on and enjoy 20 of the most enjoyable, fun, funny, heartwarming, and plain unforgettable dance scenes from movies.
Note: We decided to exclude musicals from this list, since they're generally filled with lots of great group dance scenes (shout out to West Side Story).

Song: Heaven 17 - "Temptation"
“… As the impotence of those days faded into memory, grim desperation took a hold in his sex crazed mind”
With that voice-over, Irvine Welsh poetically sums up the primary purpose of dancing for the vast majority of us. There aren’t many adults who won’t be able to relate to Renton in this scene as he looks around the club at his friends, who have all managed to find members of the opposite sex, and then desperately searches the dance floor for a companion of his own, whilst being taunted by the chorus of a song which repeatedly shouts “temptation”. The initial lack of interest from women surely has something to do with his hilariously ill-fitting T-shirt or his jogging-on-the-spot dance moves.
