As a follow up to his excellent recent single “Save,” Alive Since Forever rapper Kevin Abstract enlists fellow crew member Romil for production duties on the second single off of his upcoming album MTV 1987, the near-seven minute “Drugs.”

Atop a beat that sounds like vintage Neptunes run through a guitar amplifier before giving way to a mellow near-R&B groove, Kevin continues the autobiographical bent that made “Save” so intriguing, laying his psychology bare in one moment, flexing an ability for melodic rapping the next by reinterpreting Cassie lyrics. It’s an unexpected ride that further reveals Abstract’s personality and the extent of his evolving talent–easily his most ambitious release yet.
