For Alex Wiley’s lively new single “Vibrations” (produced by talented California brothers Hippie Sabotage), the Chicago rapper continues to push into the melodic territory he explored briefly throughout his Club Wiley mixtape. It’s effective here, creating a loose, lightly reggae-tinged song that burrows its way into your brain even after just a handful of listens. It’s not precisely the experimental territory we might have expected after our conversation with Wiley, but it’s proof that the young emcee is growing and expanding the limits of his style.
