For his latest single, L.A.-based rapper/producer Alexander Spit recruits fellow perennially underrated Bay Area native DaVinci for “Pool Shark,” a thumping, piano-driven song that sounds like a dark spiritual successor to early RZA productions. Eschewing a hook, Spit and DaVinci attack the sort of beat that’s served them both in good stead, bearing the east coast influence that has made both artists intriguing prospects in a more diverse west coast scene than the radio would lead listeners to believe.
