Que - "Time"

None

Speaking of the exciting rap styles bubbling up in Atlanta at the moment, rapper Que has been steadily building a groundswell (the sort that doesn’t always make its presence felt on the internet, rooted in clubs and on local radio stations) around his music, following a path well-tread by rappers like Rich Homie Quan and Migos (who, before their fast, Drake-aided ascent, collaborated with Que on single “Young N*gga,” a song that drew plenty of ire from Pigeons & Planes commenters while becoming a regional hit).

Coupling a gruffness reminiscent of Jeezy with a surprisingly agile flow (certain pockets draw on the bounce T.I. employs at his best), on new single “Time” Que exhibits a capacity for the sort of catchy hooks that propelled some of Atlanta’s current crop of rising stars to prominence. This catchiness extends to his verses, clear-voiced and rhythmically memorable.
