With 2013 all but over, New Zealand duo BROODS (one of the foreign acts we think has a chance for breakout success this coming year) releases second single “Never Gonna Change.” A bit more melancholic than anthemic introductory track “Bridges,” “Never Gonna Change” marries the group’s pop sensibilities with a sweeping, icy look at dysfunctional love (a seeming fixation for BROODS if two songs are any indicator of a larger trend), as expertly produced and affectingly written (if perhaps not as immediately catchy) as its predecessor.
