Yellerkin is the Brooklyn-based duo of Adrian Galvin and Luca Buccellati. To hear them tell the story (as they do in their Facebook bio): “Adrian and Luca grew up together in a small town in the woods, yelling. Yellerkin tells the story of the different yells that we use to express both our suffering and our elation. We yell for tears and we yell for blood.”
While debut single “Solar Laws” (the first off an upcoming four track EP) doesn’t precisely embody “yelling for blood,” it is a pleasant, pop-y bit of ethereal folk rock, evocative and propulsive without dipping into overt sentimentality (it has a little throwback stomp to it in places, but it never devolves into forced nostalgia).
