One look at the tracklist of L.A.-based singer Kelela’s upcoming mixtape should have lovers of experimentally-minded electronic production which backs powerful female vocals extremely excited. The list of producers (all affiliated with either the Night Slugs or Fade To Mind crews) reads like a who’s who of the most inventive and awesome makers of futuristic dance music out, and includes UK heroes Bok Bok, Girl Unit, and Jam City, and the US’s Kingdom and Nguzunguzu.
“Enemy,” track two off the mixtape which is out October 1 via Fade To Mind, is produced by Nguzunguzu, and combines granite-hard percussion and metallic synth strobes to provide an epic backdrop for Kelela’s powerful R&B vocals. Listen below.
