After breaking some hearts with “Love So Cold” and “On Your Own,” we saw some slightly more upbeat romanticism on Fryars‘ “Sequoia” and P&P premiere “Can’t Stop Loving You,” but his newest track sees the talented Ben Garrett entering a whole new musical realm. “Cool Like Me” is, quite simply, a brilliant piece of pop songwriting. While some offbeat electronic touches do remain, the song is based around a soaring chorus and galloping beat, with a sweeping string section adding the final flourish.
And that piano build around the two minute mark, preceding the final chorus? Blissful.
