Montreal-by-way-of-Calgary experimental group Braids have been paving the way for a very distinct, electronic-heavy sound on their new record, and latest track “Hossak” picks up where the previous singles left off. Sophomore album Flourish // Perish is markedly different from their debut Native Speaker—which might be in part due to the departure of former member Katie Lee. But these tracks still build on the foundation that they laid on Speaker—spare soprano riffs give way to lots of residual static, noise and intensive musical climaxes.
