Back in November 2012, we first got a taste of enchanting Irish duo Young Wonder through, of all things, a remix. A quick journey into their small catalog at the time proved their original music just as exciting, full of big beats, soaring choruses, disjointed vocal chops, warm synths, and a varied palette of musical influences. The end result on songs like “To You,” “Time,” and “Electrified” fits comfortably in some of the lanes carved by Purity Ring and Crystal Castles, occasionally gorgeous, occasionally grim, always larger than the sum of its parts. This still developing-formula made them one of our 19 Artists to Watch in 2013 and with their debut EP Show Your Teeth, Young Wonder has delivered early returns on their promising blend.

Show Your Teeth is a perfect introductory note for fans and newcomers alike, expanding on the formulas glimpsed on the group’s three singles without overstaying its welcome. At five songs (not including a 50 second intro that is essentially a part of the following track), Show Your Teeth is full enough to satisfy and whet the appetite for what’s to come.
