In the tradition of yelp ‘n coo lilting voices found with the likes of Ellie Goulding, Dirty Projectors, and Fever Ray, the second LP from Braids comes barreling down from Montreal with a pair of synth-laden tracks that swirl around the listener and ensconce them in a cocoon of trip-hop beats, silky keys, and haunting vocal refrains. The album is titled Flourish // Perish, though “In Kind” and the previously released “Amends” will debut as an EP, In Kind // Amends, on June 11.
“In Kind” continues Braids’ tradition of bouncy, catchy riffs that continue to change and evolve until they stretch to multi-part orchestrations, never trying patience or straying too far from the original sound. Check out “In Kind” and “Amends” below.
