It’s been a few months since we last heard from Kendall Elijah, but “Sittin'” reminded us of the promise glimpsed in songs like “The Wild.” Though tackling Otis Redding’s timeless “(Sittin’ On) the Dock of the Bay” is a tall and not exactly advisable task, Kendall’s take is personal and raw, tied together by sharp rapping in the track’s latter half, cutting a figure that reminds of the original while managing to duck out of its shadow enough to stand alone.
