A large portion of the so-called trap music populating the blogosphere these days is seemingly designed with the purpose of riot-starting in mind–at least, that has been the occasional accusation. Branchez’s “Shake” isn’t as concerned with bringing out the SWAT teams as imbuing a bit of soulful club-readiness into the typically icy trap formula. Branchez loads on the warm sax, brings the hard hitting drums you’ve come to either love or hate, and ties together an imaginative package that shows even well-worn genres have can be pushed to exciting new places.
