DJ Muggs ft. A$AP Rocky - "Dank"

1.

When we cooked up our “10 Dubstep/Rap Collaborations That Don’t Suck” feature, we included a cut from Cypress Hill’s EP with Rusko. What many haven’t been privy to was Soul Assassins’ own DJ Muggs, Cypress Hill’s DJ and producer, has been off on his own producing all kinds of dubstep and Trap-esque tracks. The Soul Assassins crew has been dabbling in this sound for a few years, which culminated in Muggs signing with Ultra Records earlier this year to drop “Snap Ya Neck Back,” a collaborative track with Dizzee Rascal that is said to be from his forthcoming Bass For Your Face album.

Before that happens, Muggs linked up with Мишка for his Sound Clash Business EP, which is out for free and features raps from Chuck Inglish and A$AP Rocky, who is featured on this cut “Dank.” It isn’t heavy on rhymes, as the beats do most of the talking, but Rocky does get some chants in and breathes some life into the track (mostly through his lines being bounced and manipulated like another instrument). Mindblowing? Not really, but there’s obvious strides being made into the blending of bass music and hip-hop, and this is something that might pique a mobster’s interest.
