We’ve been banging on about Willis Earl Beal since we first heard the simple yet beautiful “Evening’s Kiss“, and we quickly became even bigger fans after Confusion talked to the talented wanderer over the phone. Now, in advance of the April 2nd release of Willis’ debut album Acousmatic Sorcery on XL Records imprint Hot Charity, the Chicago Reader has an exclusive full stream of the wonderfully varied LP. Be warned, the record is extremely lo-fi, hushed and crackly (as it was recorded on cheap equipment), but nonetheless there is a beauty in the simplicity of the recordings, and a magnetism in the world-weary voice of the naturally talented Mr Beal.
