As Angles was already a fairly different album than what some may have had expected of The Strokes, I suppose that Foster the People‘s take on “Machu Picchu” isn’t far too surprising. The Cali natives dropped by the studio of BBC’s Radio 1 earlier this week and performed a psychedelic cover of the Strokes’ track, explaining that they were motivated to cover it because it “sounds like a Pokémon character (what about this, Mark Foster?)” and that “it’s a rock song [they] wanted to flip on its head.” I guess those are fair reasons. How do you kids feel about this cover?
