I don’t know exactly when it was, but somewhere along the line, noisy indie pop duo Sleigh Bells went from cool to very cool. It was around this time that everyone got the idea to hop on board the Sleigh Bells bandwagon and get in on the action by remixing the shit out of their music. It didn’t ruin the fact that Sleigh Bells made one of the best albums of the year, but it did get tired pretty fast.
The dust has settled a little, and I finally gave in today and checked out another Sleigh Bells remix. I’m glad I did. Club Clique is a club/DJ collective/I’m not really sure, and they took “Rill Rill” and flipped it into a light, danceable track. It’s a totally different vibe than you’d expect to get out of an SB song, but it’s surprisingly fun, like putting sunglasses on dogs.
