Carlos Santana - Back in Black ft. Nas

1.

This could have been really cool, but absolutely nothing about it works. First of all, as much as you may love the bongos, they do not belong in a cover of AC/DC’s “Back in Black”. That Shania Twain sounding vocalist gives the chorus and extra corny football commercial vibe, and even the wah-wah effect that Santana chose takes away from the classic guitar work.

The greatness in the original “Back in Black” was in its simplicity. When that guitar came in over the drums, it’s impossible not to whip out an air guitar. I’m really disappointed with the way this cover turned out. It’s from Santana’s Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time, dropping September 21st.
