Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers might be bigger than fans initially thought.
On Tuesday, K-Dot posted a photo of him holding two CDs—one with the word “Morale” written on it in sharpie, and another with the word “Steppers”—to his website oklama.co.
Both discs have the words “master copy” on them, and the MC is holding a book with the full name of his upcoming record engraved on the cover. The image is already enough to have fans across the internet talking about the possibility of Lamar releasing his next LP as a double album.
Lamar announced the new album’s title and its May 13 release date last month, when he responded to a speculative tweet about his retirement with an update on his long-awaited fifth studio LP, linked to the Oklama website.
As the press release he linked to confirmed, “all factual information for this release will come directly from this source only.” So unless Kendrick calls Big Steppers a double album, even if he posts a photo alluding to it, we can’t say with certainty.
“As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years,” Lamar wrote in August about the album. “The Struggles. The Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling.”
