The promotion for Mac Miller's upcoming album, GO:OD AM, is officially underway, and he decided to kick it off with an appearance on The Breakfast Club. Mac, who always gives good interviews, was as candid as ever during this clip, as he openly discussed his past drug use and how it got to a point after he signed his major deal that he didn't want to do anything but make music and get high. At the point of breaking out of that spell, Mac said that he didn't go to rehab, but that he got through it thanks to the support of his friends and family around him.

He also talked about his appearance at Jay Electronica's show in Brooklyn last summer, where he happened to forget his lyrics on stage because he was too high, and ended up freestyling with Jay onstage. He said when he got off stage he told Jay that he messed up, and Jay replied, "There's no fuck ups in hip-hop, bro."

As far as the mind state for this new album, Mac said that he didn't want to get back into it depressed, but rather have fun with what he was doing. With the writing for the album, he also said that he doesn't need drugs for his creativity, as he long as his mind is in a positive place. He confirmed that this new album is more about knowing where he stands in the game and taking everything head on. "I'm not tripping about where my place is anymore, and what I can and can't do. I know who I am, and I'm just going to rap and have a good time," Mac said.

The entire interview, which can be seen above, is very entertaining, with Mac also talking about quitting his MTV2 show, and much more. Mac's album, which drops on September 18, is currently available for pre-order on iTunes here
