Young Thug says he’s “been trying” to facilitate a repaired relationship between Drake and Future.
During a recent appearance on Adin Ross’s stream, Thug, who’s set to perform at ComplexCon in Las Vegas later this month, reiterated the sentiment he expressed in the second verse of “Miss My Dogs.” In the UY SCUTI track, as fans know, Thug called Drake “my brother” and said he’d been working to get him, Metro Boomin, and Future “on the same page” again.
“Listen, I’m trying,” Thug said on Ross’s stream. “I can show y’all text messages in my phone. I have been trying this shit. I was trying this shit in jail. Like, the shit in the song [about] trying to get him, Metro, and Pluto on the same page? That really happened. Actually happened. That ain’t no cap. That’s real. That really happened. I just try to make it work. … Some of y’all’s biggest hits were together.”
Both Drake and Future were mentioned elsewhere in the stream. The latter, for example, was named among Thug’s picks for Atlanta’s proverbial Mount Rushmore of all-time great rappers due to him having “made the biggest impact.” Speaking more generally about the current state of rap, Thug lamented the impact of “everybody beefing” when it comes to collabs and said he wants to hear Drake and Future on another song together.
“Those were the times, I’m telling you,” Thug said when talking about collaborative entries from his own catalog. “It’s just so many egos and so much shit now, it probably won’t even ever get back to that. That’s one of the reasons why I feel like I’m done with this shit, because it won’t ever be the same. I like collaborating, I don’t like competing. … There’s nothing to even compete about.”
