"When you're making magic, sometimes the ingredients don't come with instructions," Snoop Dogg says accurately in the opening moments of the trailer for G Funk, a new YouTube Originals documentary.

Directed by Karam Gill, G Funk takes an intensive and interviews-stacked look back at the 213 (RIP Nate Dogg) story through the eyes of those who know it most. "I've been trying to do my own documentary for a long time," Warren told Complex last year. "One day I was doing a show and met Karam and I told him 'Just follow me around, I want you to get some footage so I can have content for my website.' He got a lot of content. He was so good at it, I told him 'I want you to shoot my documentary.'"

For both Warren and Karam, the g-funk sound is still alive and well in the music of Kendrick Lamar and others. "We was different, and that's what made it turn into what it turned into and create a new genre, and open up a lot of doors for other artists to feel free to do that type of stuff," Warren, who also named YG and Ty Dolla Sign as being heavily g-funk-influenced, said.

Snoop is joined in the doc by Warren G, Wiz Khalifa, Ice Cube, Chuck D, Too Short, Ice T, and more. Catch it exclusively on YouTube Premium starting July 11.

Last month, Snoop and Warren hit the BottleRock Napa Valley Festival with a Guinness World Record-breakingly huge cup of gin and juice.
