The Shortlist For This Year's Mercury Prize Includes Novelist, King Krule & Sons Of Kemet

Both King Krule and Novelist will be looking to keep the award in South London as the pair receive noms for albums 'The Ooz' and 'Novelist Guy'.

This years Mercury Prize shortlist has been revealed and it's another super strong list, reflecting the past year of great British albums.

At a live launch in London, BBC Music's Huw Stephens announced the 12 albums selected by an independent judging panel. With last year's prize won by Sampha for brilliant debut Process — both King Krule and Novelist will be looking to keep the award in South London as the pair receive nominations for albums The Ooz and Novelist Guy. Alongside jazz four-piece, Sons of Kemet, Everything Is Recorded and Wolf Alice, Lily Allen receives her first Mercury nomination for her fourth album, No Shame.

The 2018 Awards Show will take place on Thursday, Sept 20 at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith. As of today, at the bookies' the big hitters placed out in front are Noel Gallagher, Florence + The Machine and also Arctic Monkeys at 4/1 (William Hill) to take home the prize in September.
