What better way to spend a night than singing an iconic song with the legendary Stevie Wonder? At the singer-songwriter's private 67th birthday bash, titled (!) "The Stevie Wonder Song Party: A Celebration of Life, Love and Music" at the Peppermint Club in Los Angeles, Wonder took the stage to perform his huge collection of hits in two hour-long performances, including his 1972 hit "Superstition."
Joining him was none other than Donald Glover a.k.a. Childish Gambino, who has a knack for covering classics (and expertly harnessing their vibes, on "Awaken, My Love!"), along with Kelly Rowland, U.K. songstress Jessie J, and Luke James on background vocals.
The foursome jammed onstage alongside other backing vocalists and a killer live band. Glover's sensational new video for "This Is America" is still at the forefront of everyone's mind and Wonder himself offered praised, joking that he "saw" it, and also suggested the two collaborate, The Blast reports. "In a time where the world seems to be asleep, it’s great to know when people are woke," he said from behind a piano.
Other guests at Wonder's celebration included T.I., Angela Bassett and Jesse Williams.
