You've heard his name on some of rap's most prominent hits in recent years. Now, with his curatorial skills and business acumen long established, Atlanta DJ Don Cannon has been appointed the latest Vice President of A&R at Def Jam Recordings. According to Island Def Jam's website, Cannon will "oversee current and new artist projects, and will actively seek out, discover and sign new talent to the label."

"Don Cannon is exactly the kind of multi-faceted producer and modern-day A&R executive who understands the Def Jam mission and culture and where we are headed for the future," said Karen Kwak, Executive Vice President/Head of A&R of Island Def Jam Music Group. "He has already worked with some of our most successful artists, and we look forward to the fresh talent he will bring to the table."

Cannon has recently made a lot of noise for producing "Numbers On The Boards," the gritty minimalist track by Pusha T.
