After a rough few weeks, The Game announced on social media that he’s going to take a break from social media, and also announced he’s delaying his Drillmatic album again.

In a lengthy Instagram post, the California-bred rapper said he had been significantly “backstabbed & betrayed” these past few weeks and announced he’s taking some time offline to regroup.

“PSA to any & everyone it may concern,” Game wrote. “I’ve always prided myself on my transparency in tow with sharing every part of my life & myself with my family, friends & my fans… the past two weeks have been a nightmare for me. I have witnessed disloyalty on levels unimaginable by people I’ve trusted with my heart, money, career & livelihood. Not only have I been backstabbed & betrayed.. I’ve been left to pick up the pieces alone.”

He continued, “I’m in no way shape or form angry with anyone for choosing to act in the manner they have as of recent & send love & well wishes from this day forward as there is no hate, malice or vengefulness in my heart. On top of that, I’ve been in therapy for 2 weeks for my back for inflamed muscles & a bruised tailbone from overworking out. I also had an accident last night n cut my finger to the bone & had to receive 6 stitches.”

Game added that the break from social media would ultimately allow him to focus on his forthcoming album Drillmatic: Heart vs. Mind, which he said he’s delaying to Aug. 12.

“The date is AUGUST 12TH 2022 & I promise you it will not change or move,” The Game said. “I’ve given everything that I am to this album & I guarantee GREATNESS.”

Originally scheduled to drop on June 17, Game’s 10th studio album had been pushed back to July 1, and then to Aug. 5. The Compton rapper’s album will serve as the official follow-up to his 2019 effort Born 2 Rap, and will be produced by Hit-Boy. The pair have already dropped off two singles from the forthcoming project, “Violence” and “Eazy” featuring Kanye West.

Game also recently stopped by L.A. Leakers to drop a new freestyle over an unreleased Hit-Bot instrumental at the end of July.

Despite all the delays, the 41-year-old has adamantly declared Drillmatic will be the best project of the year.

“I know my album gone be the best album of 2022,” he said on Instagram back in May. “cause the energy feels like I just signed my deal. You’ve never heard me rap like this, I promise you.”
