Canadian rapper Tory Lanez is facing significant prison time after a jury found him guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion. Canadian comedian and noted hip-hop fan Russell Peters has chimed in on the situation and claims he's "not a tough guy."
In an interview with iHeartRadio, Peters admonished him for shooting the Houston rapper.
"He's a little guy. He’s a little kid with a small complex," Peters said. "When I was growing up in Brampton you had to be a real badass. You’d want to punch people back then. You’d get into fights to show who’s a badass. Any idiot can pull out a gun. And you’re going to shoot a woman? I mean, you’re not a tough guy to me, buddy."
Peters then said he didn't listen to Lanez nor does he listen to much new music in general.
“I’m 53 now. I think my mental iPod is full. My friends put me on to things now and then.” He then showed his phone to the publication and found songs from B.B. King, Black Pumas, and Crimeapple who Peters says is "a very good rapper."
Peters has shown his love to hip-hop in the past. He co-produced HBO Canada doc series Hip-Hop Evolution and appears in new doc Drop the Needle on landmark Toronto record store Play de Record.
As for Lanez, prosecutors want him to serve 13 years for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, per Meghann Cunliff's reports. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Herriford is scheduled to sentence the Brampton rapper on Tuesday, June 13.
