R. Kelly has lost out on his lawsuit against Comcast Spectacor, the company that runs the Macon Coliseum in Georgia, according to Pitchfork. The singer filed the suit through his management company, RSK Enterprises, alleging that the venue operator breached its contract for a show he did there last year. Kelly was seeking $100,000, in addition to other damages.
U.S. District Court Judge John Robert Blakey threw out the suit when Kelly failed to show up for a May 15 hearing. The singer was apparently "warned that any future failures to appear may subject this case to a dismissal for want of prosecution" prior to skipping out on his scheduled court appearance. This incident is just the tip of iceberg when it comes to the legal issues involving Kelly, which includes two lawyers previously withdrawing from the Comcast Spectacor case.
But that's not all. TMZ has learned that a woman named Faith Rodgers has filed a lawsuit against R. Kelly for sexual assault. Rodgers claims that she first met the singer after a performance in San Antonio in March 2017 when she was 19 years old. She alleges that their initial meeting led to Kelly flying her out to his show in New York City a couple months later.
The suit claims that Kelly "bombarded" her hotel room after that New York City show to initiate what she refers to as "abusive sex." The two appear to have remained in contact with one another because court documents indicate that they ended up dating for about one year.
During their relationship, Rodgers alleges that Kelly would lock her in everything from rooms to studios to cars because she failed to fulfill his sexual desires. The singer’s female assistant would allegedly stand watch to make sure Faith never fled.
Rodgers also claims that she contracted herpes from Kelly. The singer is now being sued for sexual battery, failure to disclose an STD, and false imprisonment.
