It seems The Daily Show quietly canceled on guest Chris Brown last night in favor of Nick Cannon. Brown was scheduled to appear on the show and even remained as the named guest on the cable guides when the show started.

So, why the sudden swap? According to the Daily Beast, the show's staff was divided about the booking, which reportedly became a "concern" around the office. "While many staffers disapprove of the booking decision, host Trevor Noah allegedly hopes to use the interview to bring light to domestic abuse issues," the Daily Beat reports, adding, "Noah brought up such a possibility during an all-hands meeting on Monday afternoon." The site also mentions Noah's personal connection to domestic abuse as his mother was "violently abused" by his step-father who shot his mother in the face and threatened to kill Noah.

An official comment from a Comedy Central spokeswoman as told to the Washington Post stated all bookings are subject to change and that “the show hopes to reschedule Chris for a future appearance.” Comedy Central revealed no specific reason for the cancellation, but the timing itself is suspect as it was recently announced that Brown's Australian tour got canceled. Again, no specific reason was given, but previous reports stated the Australian government had denied Brown a visa on "character grounds" stemming from his history with domestic abuse.
