UPDATE 5:00 PM: In their first interview since the tragic massacre that took place at their concert at the Bataclan theater in Paris, Eagles of Death Metal spoke toVICE on their "experience, the friends, and the fans they lost that night" with VICE founder Shane Smith. "At first I thought it was the PA cracking up," guitarist Eden Galindo starts. "And then I realized real fast that it wasn't and I recognized what it was." The world still mourns for Paris following the tragic series of attacks that took place in the capital of France earlier this month, including the horrific massacre at the Bataclan theater during the Eagles of Death Metal's concert. The band released a statement following the attacks to confirm that all members of the band were safe following the show.
The band's touring drummer, Julian Dorio, took to Instagram to share his own personal thoughts on the events that transpired. Describing the events as "unimaginable," Dorio goes on to express his deep sadness for all those people who lost a loved one that night. While all band members made it out of the venue safely, the band's merchandise manager, Nick Alexander, did not. "To everyone who, in the face of unrelenting evil, went toe to toe using courage, compassion, and love as their weapons. You all are my heroes." He also says the event left him "forever changed."
