Returning after an extended hiatus, Yxng Bane has suprised fans with a new mixtape entitled Colossal. This is the East London rhymer’s first release since 2022’s “Bruk Down” with DoRoad, and his first full-length project since 2020’s Quarantine: The Lockdown Files.

Sticking squarely to the mixtape philosophy, he’s eschewed the usual streaming services, instead opting to put the new project on SoundCloud and YouTube—just like old times. At just eight tracks, including an intro and outro, it’s certainly lean, but there’s not a wasted moment. UK R&B star Ray BLK features on “Times Like This”, shining next to—but not eclipsing—a refreshed and rejuvenated Yxng Bane.

Also shining on the project is Zeeko, who produces all eight tracks and uses his space just as wisely as Bane. There’s an appearance from Gunna (no, not that one—Yxng Bane’s dog is also called Gunna) on “Back To Black”, which makes use of an Amy Winehouse sample that’s widely believed to be the reason the tape is free to stream. The track also pays homage to some classic bars from road rap vets Blade Brown and Mover.

From looking at his social media accounts, there are no clues about what the future holds for the “Rihanna” hitmaker, but while we wait for that update on his next move, press play on Colossal after the jump.
