The star or Meadowlark's beautiful songs has always been Kate McGill's weightless yet sure-footed vocals, and Belgian duo The Walton Hoax did well to remember that fact when they remixed Meadowlark's most recent single "Fly". The modest brand of folk music has been respectively eschewed in favour of sweeping synths and rich sonic textures. As with most feelings of euphoria, trying to pinpoint the exact root of it often diminishes the sensation so let's not over-think this one. Whatever the case, pairing her voice with dreamy electronics gives "Fly" an entirely new context. Instead of the introspective subtlety that defined the original, The Walton Hoax leave us with something much grander and emotionally affecting on an entirely new level.
