Ghana’s Asakaa scene continues to thrive, with stars like Yaw Tog and Smallgod spreading the word and pushing the West African country’s take on drill across the globe. Another name to add to the scene’s growing list of stars is Kimilist, who’s just dropped off his new scorcher, “Yente”, with Ypee and Kwame Yesu

The track itself has a simmering tension about it, driven forward by the rumbling 808s on Iyke Parker’s production and the restrained chant on the hook. This no-fussing, straight-to-the-point barring session is a shining example of the wealth of talented writers and rhymers coming out of Ghana right now, and a proud addition to the world-beating scene.

Putting all that on display, Kofi Awuah’s visuals follow the trio round an abandoned building, keeping the focus squarely on three razor sharp wordsmiths at the height of their powers. It’s a slickly executed calling card for all three and one that will no doubt set the scene for a big upswing in all their careers.
