It’s been a breathless run from Little Simz over the past few years. For most, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert might have given cause to put their feet up, but since then we’ve had No Thank You, numerous contributions to Inflo’s SAULT venture, and a whole bunch of live shows.

Pushing herself ever forward, Simz is back with her new EP, Drop 7. This project comes hot on the heels of her win at the MOBOs this week where she scooped the award for Best Hip-Hop Act. It’s also the latest in an ongoing series she kicked off all the way back in 2014 with her debut project, Age 101: Drop 1.

Simbi’s sound has evolved considerably in the decade since, and that’s never been more evident than on Drop 7. While a lot of her albums feature production from fellow MOBO winner Inflo, here she goes in a different direction, calling on club producer Jakwob for a more experimental sound that folds in elements of Baile funk and Jersey Club.

If that wasn’t enough, the accompanying press statement suggests we can expect “much more in the coming months.” What that means remains to be seen. For now, though, tap into Drop 7 below.
