Jim Legxacy Nods To A Soul For Real Classic On New Cut “Candy Reign”

As the title suggests, it makes clever use of a sample from the hook of the Soul To Real hit “Candy Rain”, and gives the central melody a lo-fi finish.

As the “Is X dead?” conversation moves from grime and drill to R&B, Jim Legxacy, one of the UK’s brightest prospects, has arrived to resolutely put it to bed with his new single “Candy Reign”.

The track makes clever use of a sample from Soul To Real’s 1995 hit, “Candy Rain”, giving the central melody a lo-fi finish to stir up just the right amount of nostalgia while still pushing UK R&B into the future. It’s well-timed in other ways, too; its mix of infectious, sweetly-sung melody and a high-energy visual (directed by Fidel and shot in and around Catford) make it the perfect anthem for those sun-baked, late summer evenings.

Jim Legxacy has been on an impressive run of late. “Hit It Light It Twist It” and “Eye Tell (!)” have both been massive drops for the rising singer this year, and last year’s Citadel project put him at the top of a lot of people’s ones-to-watch lists. The future for this talent is looking extremely bright.
