Moonchild Sanelly’s appearance on Ghetts’ “Mozambique” alongside Jaykae was the jewel in the crown of his 2021 album, Conflict Of Interest, a hugely impressive masterwork that saw him broaden his palette and deliver some of his best music yet.

Two years later, Ghetts has got his eye on surpassing it with the recently announced On Purpose, With Purpose. That’s not slated to come out until January 5 so, for now, we can content ourselves with its first single, “Laps”, an explosive new joint that sees him reconnect with Sanelly and remind the world why he’s still on top.

The brooding instrumental comes from Ten Billion Dreams—who also contributed heavily to the sound and overall aesthetic of Conflict Of Interest. With that doom-laden backdrop in place, G-H serves up a commanding, authoritative round of bars, speaking to his cool-headed disposition and the power plays he makes these days. Sanelly, meanwhile, completes the picture with a slightly hypnotic and very unsettling hook that’s guaranteed to send a chill down the spine

Also said to feature on the upcoming album are Kano, Wretch 32, Sampha, Unknown T and Dexta Daps. While we wait for more details, press play on “Laps” and be sure to add it to your playlists.
